  • Oconaluftee Featuring The John E Davis Chestnut Log House 8x10

The Oconaluftee Mountain Farm Museum is a living museum of structures that were acquired by the park in the 50’s. In 1958 the Great Smoky Mountains National Park started the Mountain Farm Museum featuring the John E. Davis house and out buildings to create the Mountain Farm Museum at the Visitors Center along Oconaluftee River. Oconaluftee Mountain Farm Museum is at the
Great Smoky Mountains National Park Visitor Center eastern entrance. The National Park Service have made a jewel here of this Mountain Farm Museum and the Barn is Big!

American Chestnut logs were used to build John’s Farmstead in Bryson City. Structures that came from the John E. Davis farmstead are easily identified by the worn grain and copper/black color of the fading of those structures.
